A Conversation With America
Jim Kroft 95mins 2020 Scotland / Germany
“A Conversation with America” is a documentary exploring the rise of Populism
during the US Election in 2016. Combining the strikingly different genres of road
movie and political documentary

01.45-03.05

This Jungo Life
David Fedele 78 mins 2024 Morocco
This Jungo Life takes us deep inside the lives of young refugees and asylum
seekers from Sudan, living and sleeping rough on the streets of Morocco; forced
to flee violence and instability in Libya, and unable to return home due to
ongoing war and conflict. With unique and intimate access, we are given a
glimpse into the human spirit and innate drive for survival, as they fight for a
better life for themselves and the families they left behind.

03.15-04.10

100 Symbols of Solidarity
Euan Sutherland 4 mins 2025 Scotland.
100 symbols of SOLIDARITY
Is a collaborative art project to highlight and show solidarity with Palestine.
In early 2025 a number of folk were given a set of 6 model figures to interact
with the world – this is what happened…

Fragments of Gaza
Basharat Khan 45 mins 2026 Scotland / Palestine
Through archive footage, testimonies and short films made by young people in
Gaza , the film challenges headlines and skewed narratives and instead centering
the humanity, humor, and hope that persist amid loss and uncertainty.
These fragments tell only a partial story of a place constricted in size, but
boundless in inspiration and faith.

Who’s Listening?
Ross Birrell 4 mins 2025 Scotland / Palestine
An artist’s film made in collaboration with The Edward Said National
Conservatory of Music (ESNCM), Gaza, to mark UN International Day of
Solidarity with the Palestinian People, 29 Nov 2025.

Sunday 22nd February

12.00 -01.40

My Dear Theo
Alisa Kovalenko 90mins 2025 Ukraine / Poland.
An intimate, poignant look at the Ukrainian war through the eyes of a director
and mother who takes up arms. As the battle intensifies, a missile disrupts the
fragile calm, exposing the stark realities of conflict. Blending the perspectives of a
soldier and a filmmaker, the documentary portrays the often-overlooked
emotional landscape of war as love letters to her son. With gripping footage and
personal reflections, it reveals the resilience and humanity that persist amid
chaos on the front lines.

02.00-.03.30

The March of Hope
Jim Kroft 90mins 2018 Scotland / Germany
In January 2016 two friends set off to learn first hand about the lives of refugees
in Europe. With a pair of cameras and a little yellow van, the journey would lead
them from Lesvos to Idomeni and on through the Balkans.
Set against the background of the EU pact with Turkey and the closure of the
Balkan Route the film explores these events through the lives of those most
effected on the ground.
As such the documentary is a deeply personal and emotional perspective on the
refugee crisis – but seen from the unlikely vista of a little yellow van. It’s story is
led through the friendships made with refugees, and its subplot a eulogy to the
work of aid workers, volunteers and locals – whose work is too often forgotten.

In an environment of fear, hatred and suspicion in Europe, “The March of Hope”
is a celebration of everything which makes us human, and a challenge in film to
the xenophobia growing in modern Europe.
